HDFC Bank has officially announced some updates to the terms and conditions, for its famous Infinia Metal Credit Card. These changes start on February 1 2026. If you have this card things are going to be a little different. Before you could use your card in lots of ways to get the most out of it.. Now HDFC Bank is making some rules to limit what you can do. The main benefit of having the Infinia Metal Credit Card is still much the same. You can still earn points when you use your card.. When you want to use those points there are some new rules.

1. The Redemption Frequency Cap

One of the changes is that HDFC Bank is limiting how often you can use your Infinia Metal Credit Card points. They have made a rule for reward points. Now you can only use your reward points up to five times in a month.

The reason for this change is that before people with cards could use their points times during the month. They could get rewards a lot of times.

This new rule is supposed to make things easier, for the people who handle the rewards.. It means you have to think carefully about when you use your points.

If you like to book flights or buy things that are not very expensive you will have to wait and do a few things at the same time. This way you will not use up all your chances to get rewards early in the month.

2. HDFC is making some changes to the reward points. They do not want people to take advantage of the system.

So they are putting a limit on how reward points you can use in one statement cycle.

You can only use up to 2,00,000 reward points in one cycle.

When it comes to travel there are limits.

You can only use up to 1,50,000 reward points per month for flights, hotel bookings and Airmiles conversion.

If you want to get cashback which means using your reward points to pay your statement balance you can only use up to 50,000 reward points, per month.

3. The SmartBuy Multiplier is like a rollercoaster. There have been a lot of changes with the SmartBuy platform especially when it comes to Gyftr vouchers from places like Amazon and Flipkart.

The update is that in the middle of January 2026 HDFC said they were going to change the points from 5X to 3X. But then they listened to what the customers had to say and they decided not to make that change all.

So what is the current standing? You will still get 5X Reward Points when you buy SmartBuy vouchers. This means the reward rate is still 16.6 percent, for those kinds of purchases.

4. Specific Category Redemptions: Apple and Tanishq

The Infinia card is well known for its redemption rate on famous brands like Apple and Tanishq through SmartBuy.

The new rules explain what you need to pay:

* 70 percent limit: you can only use your Reward Points to pay for, up to 70 percent of the value when you buy Apple products and Tanishq vouchers.

* The rest of the money: you have to pay the remaining 30 percent using your Infinia Credit Card.

This way the bank gets some money from purchases of Apple and Tanishq products.

5. Summary Table of Key ChangesStarting February 1 2026 there are some rules for Reward Points.

* The new rules are as follows:

* You can redeem your Reward Points a maximum of 5 times in a month.

* The total Reward Points you can use in a cycle is capped at 2,00,000.

* For travel and airmiles you can use a maximum of 1,50,000 Reward Points per month.

* If you want to redeem your Reward Points for something from Apple or Tanishq you can use a maximum of 70 percent of the cost in Reward Points and the rest you have to pay using your card.

* For cashback you can redeem a maximum of 50,000 Reward Points per month.

* If you do not use your card for 365 days your Reward Points will become invalid.

What should you do now?

If you have a lot of Reward Points and you were planning to use them for a vacation or to buy something from Tanishq you should check if the new rules will affect your plans. You might want to see if the limit of 1,50,000 Reward Points per month for travel or the limit of 5 redemptions per month will cause any problems, for you. Moving forward, “batching” your redemptions into one or two larger transactions per month will be the most efficient way to navigate these new rules.
