New Delhi: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday morning reached Hathras in Uttar Pradesh to meet with the families of the people affected by the July 2 stampede.
Enroute to Hathras, Gandhi also stopped in Aligarh and met with families of the victims of the tragedy that took place at a religious ‘satsang’ event in in Fulari village in which 123 people were killed.

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on July 5 visited the families of those who lost their lives in the Hathras stampede in Uttar Pradesh, which claimed the lives of 121 people and left 31 injured.
Prior to his visit in Hathras, Gandhi stopped in Aligarh to meet with relatives of victims from that district. He was seen interacting with the family members of the victims of the Hathras stampede.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met the families of victims who lost their lives in the tragic Hathras stampede that claimed 121 lives. Rahul left Delhi early in the morning and made the journey by road to Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras. This marks the first visit by a senior opposition leader to the site since the incident occurred.
This is an unfortunate incident. We left at 5 am with Rahul Gandhi. The stories of the victims are heart-wrenching… Neither any responsibility of the administration has been fixed nor the government is taking this seriously,” he said.
Police personnel have been deployed outside the ashram since the stampede took place at the preacher’s congregation in Harthras. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi visited Hathras on Friday, where he met the family members of the stampede victims. He also visited Aligarh to meet some affected families.
Gandhi left from Delhi on Friday early morning by road for Hathras and was accompanied by state. Congress chief Ajay Rai, state Congress in-charge Avinash Pande, party spokesperson Supriya Shrinate and other office bearers.
