IIT-JEE Preparation: Tragic Student Suicide Highlights Stress and Pressure
17-year-old youth preparing for IIT-JEE competitive exam committed suicide by hanging himself at his room in Rajasthan’s Kota city, police said on Sunday.
Details of the Incident
Ayush Jaiswal, a resident of Bihar’s Motihari, was staying at a paying guest house near Samrat Chowk of Mahaveer Nagar area to prepare for the competitive exam.
His friends informed the paying guest house owner when he did not come out of his room till Saturday night, police said.”
“A boy preparing for competitive exam took his life on Saturday night. He was found hanging in his room. No suicide note has been recovered yet. The post-mortem will be conduct after his family members arrive here,” said Mahaveer Nagar SHO Mahendra Maru.
He said that the paying guest house owner informed the police when the student did not open the door.
Jaiswal, who hailed from Motihari, Bihar, was residing at a paying guest house near Samrat Chowk in the Mahaveer Nagar area to prepare for the exam.
The incident came to light when Jaiswal’s friends alerted the paying guest house owner after he failed to come out of his room until Saturday night.
Upon receiving the information, a police team reached the spot, broke the door lock, and found the student hanging. They brought him down and rushed him to the New Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Growing Concerns in Kota
This incident marks the 11th suicide by a student preparing for competitive exams in Kota, a renowned education hub, this year.
This is the 11th suicide committed by any student preparing for a competitive exam in education hub Kota this year so far.
A day after NEET-UG entrance exam results were announced, an 18-year-old aspirant hailing from Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa died by suicide in Rajasthan’s Kota on Wednesday evening.
This is the 11th case of suspected student suicide in Kota this year. Last year, as many as 26 cases of alleged student suicide were reported in the city.
The victim named Bagisha Tiwari, who was living with her mother and brother, allegedly jumped from the building in the Jawahar Nagar area of Kota. Her body was taken to the mortuary of Maharao Bhim Singh (MBS) Hospital. After her father arrives in Kota, the police will conduct the postmortem examination.
The reason behind the suicide could not be ascertained yet. However, the police are conducting their investigation.
The victim was preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (UG) exam at a coaching institute in Kota.
