IIT Madras launches BTech in Artificial Intelligence

 BTech in Artificial Intelligence

IIT Madras New Programme: Students must be registering for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process and filling their choices now for admission to the BTech programmes. The JoSAA counselling process this year also has a prepayment provision.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has launched a new course on Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics. Admission will entirely be based on JEE Advanced ranks and only 50 seats are on offer. This course, in its first batch, is under the newly established Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI, Professor B Ravindran, head, Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI at the institution said. The course code for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics is 412L.
There will be a strong emphasis on Math Fundamentals, Data Science /AI/ML Foundations, Application Development and Responsible Design, besides a distinct interdisciplinary flavor.
Aim.
The programme aims to cultivate expertise in diverse aspects of AI and data analytics, offering a panoramic view of its applications across industries. It will have a student strength of 50 admitted through JEE.
The JEE (Advanced) 2024 results were announced on June 9, 2024, with the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA) counselling, which includes admission to all the 23 IITs, commenced on June 10, 2024.
The course is being offered through the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI, established with an endowment of Rs 110 Crore by Sunil Wadhwani, a distinguished alumnus of IIT Madras and the Co-founder of IGATE and Mastek Digital. The vision is to be among the top AI-focused schools worldwide and also to advise the government and policymakers on Data Science and AI-related policy areas.
This BTech programme will offer a lot of academic flexibility, allowing students to tailor their learning journey through a wide range of electives from within the department and outside. From delving into the intricacies of Speech and Language Technology and Computer Vision to exploring Applications in Control and Detection and Time-Series Analysis, students can delve deeper into areas of personal passion and interest.
Students will build their proficiency:
1)Mathematical Foundations: Delve deep into the mathematical underpinnings of data science and artificial intelligence, laying a robust groundwork for advanced analysis and modelling.
2)ML / AI Models: Explore a spectrum of models, ranging from mathematical and statistical to network architectures, empowering students to develop sophisticated solutions to complex problems.
3)Learning Algorithms and Statistical Inferencing: Master the art of algorithmic design and statistical inference, essential for extracting meaningful insights from vast datasets.
4)Programming Skills: Hone programming skills tailored for crafting cutting-edge data science and AI solutions, leveraging the latest tools and languages.
5)Data Acquisition and Pre-processing: Learn the intricacies of acquiring, pre-processing, and curating data, essential for ensuring its quality and relevance in analytical endeavors.
Furthermore, practical experience is ingrained into the curriculum through laboratory sessions, workshops, and real-world projects, ensuring students graduate not only with theoretical knowledge but also with hands-on expertise ready for immediate application in the industry.
