The first file signed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his third tenure on Monday pertains to releasing 17th installment of the PM Kisan Nidhi. The allocation of portfolios to the newly inducted ministers in the Narendra Modi Cabinet is likely to be done today.
The first cabinet meeting of the newly formed government is also likely to take place today.Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister for the third consecutive time along with his new Cabinet and council of ministers at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday evening.
The oath was administered by President Droupadi Murmu in the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan during the ceremony that began at 7.15 pm. Modi’s oath-taking was followed immediately by top BJP aides Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari – the defence, home and transport ministers in his last government, respectively.The new government team includes 30 Cabinet ministers, 5 Ministers of State with Independent Charge and 36 Ministers of State.Members of Parliament (MPs) who took oath as members of the Council of Ministers include Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Piyush Goyal, and Jyotiraditya Scindia. Other appointees include HD Kumaraswamy of (JDS), Chirag Paswan (LJP), Ram Nath Thakur JD(U), Jitan Ram Manji (HAM-S), Jayant Chaudhary (RLD), Anupriya Patel (Apna Dal (Soneylal)), Rammohan Naidu (TDP), and Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani (TDP). Pratap Rao Jadhav of the Shiv Sena was also inducted into the new government as Union Minister of State.

On the other hand, the Congress won 99 seats in the general election, while the INDIA bloc bagged 234 seats.Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi took oath today for a third straight term as the head of a coalition government after two full tenures in which the BJP enjoyed a majority on its own. Mr. Modi, 73, equalled the feat of the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who won in the 1952, 1957 and 1962 general elections. After Mr. Modi, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari were among 35 other Cabinet Ministers who took oath on Sunday. 36 Ministers of State, and five Ministers of State (independent charge) also took oath of office.
Rewarding the BJP’s coalition partners, Mr. Modi has inducted several MPs from the NDA partners. Two MPs each from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the BJP in Andhra Pradesh, where the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 21 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats, took oath. Several leaders, including TDP’s Ram Mohan Naidu, Pemmasani Chandrashekhar, JD(S)‘s H.D. Kumaraswamy, BJP’s Sarbananda Sonowal have been inducted into the Cabinet. The NDA won 286 seats in this election, and the BJP won 240 seats, falling short of the 272 majority mark. This is well below the 303 and 282 seats it had won in 2019 and 2014, respectively, to have a majority on its own. Meanwhile, leaders of seven countries from South Asia and the Indian Ocean region will attend the swearing-in ceremony.
